The Court of Cassation ruled in our favor, while the immigrant centers in Albania are ready, declared Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni today at the annual press conference with journalists.

"It seems to me that the decisions of the Court of Cassation give the government the right, as they say that it is up to the government to create safe places. The centers in Albania are ready to function. Last year, landings decreased by 60%, in recent years they have almost disappeared, but as far as we are concerned, the centers are ready to be operational," Meloni stressed.

Speaking about the Court of Cassation's decision, Meloni argued that the judge cannot systematically fail to enforce the ban on immigrants coming from those countries, but can motivate specific cases. 

"This is something completely different from what the magistrates of the Rome court do, who should not get into individual cases," Meloni said.
