Counting ends, SP wins all 5 municipalities

No surprises from the partial local elections in the country's 5 municipalities. The Socialist Party is the undisputed winner in Vlora, Berat, Cërrik, Mat and Tepelena. Sali Berisha's DP, although in these elections it chose to hide behind independent candidates, has suffered another defeat. Its candidates have received results in a dive, while the DP itself, compared to the results of the May 11 elections, has suffered a significant contraction in these 5 municipalities.

Vlore

Vlora was the first municipality to release the results, the municipality in which it had the lowest turnout with 12.5% of voters. The head of the Municipality of Vlora will be former MP Brunilda Mersini, who under the SP logo managed to win a landslide victory with 78% or 15,672 votes.

The only 'race' in Vlora was which of the two independent opposition candidates would retain second place. The independent candidate supported by the DP and allies received 2333 votes or 11.68%, while the DP councilor who rebelled against the party received 1975 votes or 9.88%, a narrow margin of only 358 votes. In this municipality, the DP has a contraction of 13.52% compared to the results of May 11, when it received 25.2% of the votes in this municipality, while the PS increases by 19%.

cerrik

The same picture is presented in the Municipality of Cërrik where the SP has won with 66.22%. Candidate Florenc Doka has received 6201 votes, a difference of 4313 votes from the independent candidate who was supported by the DP, Amarildo Hoxha. The latter has received 1888 votes, a very narrow difference of 613 votes with the candidate Eligert Hima of Shqipëria Bëhet, who received 1275 votes. Compared to the results of May 11 in this Municipality, the SP marks an increase of 6.72%, while the DP shrinks by 9.14%.

Bera

The difference is also frightening in the Municipality of Berat. The socialist candidate won with 13,050 votes or 83.35% against 2,607 votes or 16.65% for the candidate supported by the DP, Pavlo Shkarpa. If we compare this result with the May 11 elections, the SP increases in this municipality by 28%, while the DP shrinks by 16.75%.

TEPELENA

The same situation is also present in Tepelena, which had a total of 21 Voting Centers and in this municipality for the first time the counting of votes with Artificial Intelligence was tested, in addition to manual counting. The SP with the former soldier Gramos Sako won with 77.85% or 3261 votes. Meanwhile, the candidate supported by the SP, 26-year-old Gabriel Guma, secured only 928 votes. The SP increases by 9.5% compared to the results of May 11 in this municipality, while the DP shrinks by almost 1%.

matt

The only municipality in the north of the country that went to by-elections, Mati, was won again by the Socialists. With Altin Bojni winning with 7425 votes or 66.54%. His rival, the independent candidate supported by the DP, Eduart Brahilika, received 3184 votes or 28.54%. Meanwhile, the candidate Suzana Pasha who challenged her party the SP, running as an independent, received only 549 votes or 4.92%. Even in this municipality, the DP has decreased compared to the result of May 11, a decrease of 8.16%, while the SP has increased by 7.34%.

In total, only 18.45% of the 334,539 thousand citizens with the right to vote cast their votes in the ballot boxes in the 5 municipalities. The municipality with the highest turnout was Mati with 39.36%, followed by Tepelena with 34.63%, Cerrik with 25%, and Berat with 19.98%. The lowest turnout was recorded in Vlora, the largest municipality in Sunday's partial elections, where only 12.54 percent voted.
