DP reports to SPAK Edi Rama: Has abused strategic investments in the case of
Edi Rama

MP Gazment Bardhi on behalf of the PD Parliamentary Group has filed today in SPAK a criminal report against Prime Minister Edi Rama for abuse of office, a criminal offense which is punishable by up to 7 years in prison. It is about the case of granting strategic investor status and public assets in use to the husband of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhacka.

Minister Xhacka's husband has obtained the status of strategic investor for the construction of a 5-storey multi-storey hotel in a development area of 10,592 mW and worth about 5.5 million euros, in Gjileka, Himar Municipality. The company owned by the husband of the minister and MP Mrs. Olta Xhacka has benefited from the support measure of allowing the use of the coast in front of the hotel for a period of 30 years, as well as benefits from the incentive to reduce VAT.

This for the Democrats was done in flagrant violation of the legal prohibitions provided in the law on the prevention of conflict of interest. "Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his capacity as superior of Minister Olta Xhacka, but also as Chairman of the Strategic Investment Committee, has the legal responsibility to implement the prohibitions provided by law no. 9367, dated 7.4.2005 "on the prevention of conflict of interest in the exercise of public functions", as amended, which clearly specifies that the deputy / minister can not benefit from the use of public property and that this rule applies equally to his / her spouse his ”- it is said in the report signed by the deputy Gazment Bardhi.

The report also highlights the fact that according to the law in force, if the shares or shares in the capital are registered in the name of the spouse, they are assessed in the same way as if they were registered in the name of the deputy / minister and his / her spouse. property rights for them, to the same extent and in the same way as in the case of the deputy / minister himself.

"By not applying this ban, Prime Minister Edi Rama and members of the Strategic Investment Committee, who were aware that the beneficiary company is owned by the husband of the Minister / MP Olta Xhacka, deliberately committed actions contrary to law, which constitutes regular non-fulfillment of duty, bringing unfair material benefits to the family of Minister Xhacka. ” - it is said in the report.

The criminal report against Edi Rama comes a day after a group of deputies of the Democratic Party asked the Assembly to start the procedures for ascertaining the incompatibility with the mandate of the deputy for Olta Xhacka.
