OMONIA Himare branch has reacted regarding the refusal of the right to vote for citizens whose identity cards have expired.
Through a statement to the media, OMONIA, removing the right to vote from citizens with expired IDs, is contrary to the practices applied in other election processes.
They also state that the identity card production company has been put at the service of the SP, renewing documents within 24 hours to the members of the SP, while other citizens were asked to appear after 15 days.
Press release:
Since the start of the election process in Himare Municipality, at the insistence of the commissioners of the Socialist Party, dozens of voters have been denied the right to vote with the claim of expired identification documents.
Contrary to the practices applied in previous election processes, Prime Minister Rama refused to issue the relevant legal acts that would guarantee the right to vote for all voters.
The state-owned company for the production of identity cards was placed during the last days at the service of the Socialist Party, serving the citizens in a selective manner. Members of the SP had their documents renewed in an organized manner within 24 hours, while other citizens were required to appear after 15 days.
In total, out of 23,074 registered voters, 6,157 are a priori deprived of the right to vote by the decision and responsibility of the Rama Government.
