An action by the Korça police has led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man.

During a search of a city bar, police services found that the young man was carrying a firearm without a permit.

The arrested person is Andi Qeraxhi, a name known to the police due to his criminal record.

According to official sources, the 31-year-old has been involved in several criminal incidents, and in 2017 he fired a Kalashnikov at a nightclub on the outskirts of the city of Korça.

He is also involved in illegal drug trafficking activities.


"Following the work to provide information and crack down on cases of illegal possession of weapons, as well as based on the controls carried out in various environments where illegal gambling activities could be carried out, the services of the Korça Police Commissariat, based on the information obtained that a citizen was moving around armed, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Target".

As a result of the operation, the Police services conducted a search in neighborhood no. 9, in a bar, in whose premises citizen AQ was found, suspected of being armed.

This citizen, as soon as he noticed the Police forces, attempted to quickly flee, in order to avoid being caught by the Police, but was caught and neutralized.

During the physical search, the Police found and seized, as material evidence, 1 firearm, a pistol with a comb, combat ammunition and a sum of money.

At the end of the procedural actions, citizen AQ, 31 years old, resident of Korça, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".

"The procedural materials were passed on to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further action ," the police announced.
