4 Albanians aged 30-50 have been arrested by the Italian police.

As foreign media reports, they are part of a criminal gang that deals with illegal trafficking, mainly of cocaine and weapons, based in Bologna.

It is learned that 19 people are under investigation in the case, including an Italian courier (about 90 years old).

A Tunisian has also reportedly been arrested. The latter, along with the Albanians, were importing drugs from the Netherlands.

In the period April-November 2020 alone, this criminal group is suspected of transporting 41.5 kg of cocaine, 76.5 kg of marijuana and 280 kg of hashish to Italy, worth 5 million Euros.

It is learned that what he uncovered are encrypted communications in the famous Sky ECC application, which is mostly used for criminal purposes.

The "peak" of the investigation was in 2021, when police forces in Belgium, the Netherlands and France managed to 'hack' this system.

The Bologna Public Prosecutor's Office then began deciphering messages between members of the criminal group, which included photos and videos.

This is how their identity, the cars they owned, and even their place of residence were discovered.

The cocaine was hidden inside trucks and imported to Bologna, where it was sold at retail.

Most of the money earned, investigators say, ended up in Albania.

Searches were carried out in several cities such as Modena, Ferrara and Frosinone, where police seized 15 thousand Euros in cash, ammunition, 2 cars and the material used for drug packaging.

But who was leading this gang?

According to reports so far, it is an Albanian, around 40 years old (among those arrested).

He decided on everything, from imports, the quality of drugs, the selection of couriers, and the way criminal money was invested.
