Former Democratic Party MP Luan Baçi has reacted after being placed under investigation by SPAK, describing the matter as related to "tendential events" of 2010 and denying that any illegal action was involved.
Speaking on the "Breaking" show on Top News, Baci said that it concerns documents and financial data related to an agreement from that time.
"We are talking about events of 2010, events that you cannot call events, there are some letters that you receive and send there, which show that on this day in 2010, I spent so much money, this person spent so much money. But when did this person find the money ?", said Baçi.
The former MP stated that he has earned the money through his work and activity over the years, also mentioning the period he spent as an immigrant in Greece.
"I found the money where all honest people find it, through work, through business, through emigration ," he said.
Baçi indicated that he had emigrated to Greece in 1990 and returned to Albania in 1995. According to him, after returning, he had invested in properties and businesses. He also expressed his willingness to have his economic activity during the years of emigration in Athens verified.
"I am ready to be vetted in Athens as well, to give them the neighborhoods where I worked, the jobs I did, and have them vet me there ," declared Baçi.
The former MP accused him of a sponsored attack, saying that according to him, various people are hiding behind this stance, even from the political wing to which he belongs.
Baçi also linked this situation to his political stance towards Sali Berisha, recalling that, according to him, he was the only MP from Fier who stood by Berisha after the latter was declared "non grata".
"An attack on me began when Berisha was declared non grata. I was a deputy for Fier, I was the only one who stood by Berisha in the Fier district," said Baçi.
