Professor Albert Karriqi passes away

Albert Karriqi, professor at the Institute of Scientific Research in Sports and champion athlete of the Tirana club, passed away this Friday. The sad news was confirmed by the professor's relatives and friends, who still cannot believe his passing.

He specialized in the Theory and Methodology of Sports Training, as well as in the Philosophy of Sports, while beyond the academic world, Prof. Dr. Albert Karriqi is widely known by the Albanian public as an analyst and commentator invited to various sports television panels during major global events.

It is learned that the man who dedicated his life for decades to sports, knowledge, and the education of generations, has passed away as a result of cardiac arrest.

His name is associated with Albanian scientific research in sports, with studies, publications and pedagogical work. He was among the people who believed that sports could not be built on talent alone, but on science, method, dedication and human formation.

One of his works bears the significant title "Albanian Sports Science Today and Tomorrow". For his extraordinary contribution to the Albanian Olympic and Sports Movement, the Albanian National Olympic Committee honored him with the "Olympic Order".

Also, Prof. Dr. Albert Karriqi served as a deputy of the People's Assembly in the 1991 legislature.
