Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about his relationships with various people during his long years in politics, singling out one of his former traveling companions, Ilir Meta.
In an interview with journalist Rudina Xhunga on the podcast "Flasim", Rama said that trust in people is one of his weaknesses, stating that he is not a person who tends to control others.
The Prime Minister said that he has also known people who have been very suspicious. "I had one in particular, a companion for a certain time on the road, he was a person and is, but no longer a companion ," Rama declared.
When journalist Rudina Xhunga asked if he was talking about Ilir Meta, Rama did not deny it, but chose not to mention the name.
"The name doesn't matter, he suffered deeply from doubt," said Rama, adding that according to him, living by doubting others has a great cost.
But the prime minister acknowledged that in positions of responsibility, excessive trust can become a problem. "Sometimes I say that, especially in positions of responsibility, excessive trust becomes a cost that others can also pay," Rama said.
Edi Rama: Fortunately in some ways and unfortunately I have my weakness, I am not a person who is driven to control. I have worked with three directors of the Albanian secret service.
I believe a lot in people, I grew up with the spirit that my grandmother first instilled in me. She was the person I was very close to since I was little, she was a practicing Catholic and at that time religion was forbidden.
I have a strong faith, and a general weakness for control. I have known very suspicious people, I had one in particular, a companion for a certain time on the road, he was a man and is, but no longer a companion.
Rudina Xhunga: Ilir Meta?
Edi Rama: The name doesn't matter, he suffered deeply from doubt. I have always believed that doubting others and living with doubts has a great cost. But sometimes I say that it is necessary, especially in positions of responsibility, excessive trust turns into a cost that others can also pay.
