Lea Ypi's book 'Free' wins one of the most important awards in
Lea Ypi

Albanian writer Lea Ypi has won the "Ondaatje" award, an award which is given for books that best bring the soul of a country and is one of the most important in the United Kingdom.

A jury composed of poet Sandeep Parmar, author Patrice Lawrence and writer Philippe Sands have praised Ypi's book "Free", saying that he has brought it masterfully by contrasting magnificent and personal stories.

The lawyers also praised the way "her work with dark humor and deep seriousness" made them "reflect strongly on the need for truth about the stories being told to us and how we negotiate our lives within them".

Ypi defeated 6 other writers, while in addition to the importance of the award, the writer was also valued at £ 10,000.
