Albanian 'chemist' caught with modern heroin lab in Italy

Italian police have struck a powerful base of drug preparation, production and trafficking.

An Albanian suspected of being a chemist for the organization has been arrested. The operation was finalized by the Guardia di Financa of Padua.

At least 60 kilograms of heroin were seized, along with modern production equipment in the heroin laboratory, while the arrested person is a 44-year-old Albanian.

During a patrol service in the Guizza area, officers checked the suspect who was moving in a suspicious manner. The documents he gave the agents were suspicious. It was a document from the Czech Republic, clearly forged. The Albanian's nervousness and unclear answers prompted the officers to conduct a thorough physical check, even to his home, near the checkpoint.

And the surprise came from inside the premises, where GdF was confronted with a real drug refinery, finding in two bags a total of 60 kilograms of heroin, tools and products intended for the preparation and packaging of drugs, and 25 thousand euros in cash.

At the end of the formal procedures, the Albanian was escorted to the Padua prison and made available to the judicial authorities. Investigations are underway to understand who the heroin was intended for and, above all, to reconstruct the drug trafficking chain, informs Italian media.

If the goods were cut into three pieces, according to investigators, it would provide about 200 kg of drugs divided into doses, worth over 1 million euros.
