The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, has decided to open the ballot boxes and count the envelopes of votes received from the Albanian diaspora in Greece.
Celibashi said that no irregularities were found, so the counting should continue. The head of the CEC said that this decision was made only by the CEC and then evaluated by the KAS or the College and in no way did any counting group or commission have the right to decide whether it would be counted or not.
The Democratic Party requested a blocking of the counting of diaspora votes in Greece, claiming that there were irregularities.
"No box has been assessed as irregular. Therefore, for this reason, the State Election Commission decides to continue and complete the counting and evaluation of every electoral documentation of voters from abroad who came to the CEC, as well as the tabulation of the respective results for the electoral subjects, candidates who have been subject to voting for each district.
"This count also includes envelopes that have not been reviewed and have been administered according to the decision of the State Election Commission. This decision enters into force immediately," Celibashi said.
