The moment when the 33-year-old rescues the French tourist

For Leli Alushaj, Sunday, August 14, was a normal working day. He was notified by the owner of the bar where he has been working for 9 years as a waiter about the arrival of 30 Spanish tourists.

But the 33-year-old did not think that this would be the day when he would save his life and become a hero.

"A lady was not feeling well at the time. I saw that something was wrong and immediately intervened to give first aid. All the people who happened to be nearby were completely confused", Alushaj tells Euronews Albania.


The tourist from Spain expressed her gratitude.

"He invited me. He told me that you have your house in Spain, you can come whenever you want. You have the door open. It's a lady in her 50s," he says.

Also, the followers on social networks, who were added immediately as soon as the video of his action, went viral.

"It was the first license course where I learned, then the restaurant chef who trained us for such situations where we must be prepared. Things happen, we are people", says the 33-year-old.

It is not the first time that the 33-year-old from Fieri has provided quick help, at work and outside of it. His family is prouder of this.

"I have a 3 and a half year old daughter, my wife, parents and 2 sisters. Mom, dad and especially the little girl call me a hero. Even when I take her to kindergarten, the girl says: My father is a hero", he says.
