The police of Lezha have arrested 28-year-old Nikoll Sherrniku , accused of being involved in the murder of former officer Xuliano Prela and a friend of Brilant Martinaj , who was killed in the Fushë Krujë overpass assassination a while ago.

The authorities announce that he broke the "house arrest" measure and a Kalashnikov with cartridges ready for firing was found inside the Toyota armored vehicle. Also, the 34-year-old driver of the vehicle, Flutura Berisha, who tried to hide the firearm, was arrested.

According to the Police, based on the investigations so far, doubts arise that the movement of Nikoll Sherrnik and Flutura Berisha with the armored vehicle, in different roles, was to carry out a criminal event. Due to the preservation of investigative secrecy, no other information about the case is disclosed.

"Police services, after locating the Toyota vehicle parked near a building in Kune, Shengjin, intervened to neutralize the citizens who were in the vehicle, who, having just seen the Police services approaching, immediately got out of the vehicle and tried to run away. During the attempt to leave, Flutura Berisha (the driver of the vehicle) simultaneously tried to hide a firearm, near the place where the vehicle was parked. The weapon of the Kalashnikov fire, together with a comb and a cartridge in the socket, was later found by the Police services." it is stated in the notification of the authorities.

In the vehicle, together with Nikoll Sherrnik and Flutura Berisha, both residents of Kurbin, there was also a 15-year-old minor.

During the search of the vehicle, the blue uniforms found an automatic comb with cartridges in it, while during the search of Flutura Berisha's handbag, two transceiver radios, like those of the Police, were found.

Nikol Sherrniku was under the security measure of "house arrest" in relation to his implication in the event that happened in December 2021, where the former Police employee, citizen Xuliano Prela, was shot dead.

The police seized as material evidence 1 automatic rifle, 2 combs with cartridges in them, 2 radio receivers and transmitters, both belonging to the Police, as well as the armored vehicle in which these citizens were moving.

Nikoll Sherrniku is charged with the criminal offenses "Unauthorized possession of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" and "Removing the prisoner from the place of stay". Meanwhile, Flutura Berisha is accused of the criminal offenses of "Discovering the crime" and "Actions that prevent the discovery of the truth".

The investigative work continues for the clarification and complete documentation of this event, as well as for the identification and placing before the legal responsibility of all the persons involved.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Lezhë Judicial District Court, for further actions.
