The Association of Nurses in Albania warns of a protest in the coming days due to the violence against them, the lack of staff and the attention of the institutions as well as the working conditions.
This protest comes after the rape of two nurses a few days ago at the Pediatric Hospital in Tirana and the lack of reaction of the institutions to this event. According to the Association of Nurses, violence against white shirts occurs regularly throughout Albania.
Through a statement, the Association of Nurses points out that for years there has been a marked lack of medications, including the most important ones, there is a lack of services as well as a marked lack of staff, overloading the working staff who cannot cope with the increased flow of patients.
According to this association, the institutions are not at all concerned about the massive departure of nurses that happens every day, causing staff shortages in many hospitals and health centers.
They make it known that they have been forgotten and abused by the state itself, by the unions, by the institutions where they work. The only solution, nurses see protest for their rights.
Full STATEMENT of the Nursing Association
The news about the rape of two nurses at the Pediatrics hospital by the relatives of a child who was presented to the Pediatrics at QSUT sent as a case and to the prosecutor's office from the denunciation made by the two raped nurses has passed as a normal event by all institutions. A frequently repeated phenomenon at any time, and which is not absent even during the pandemic. A phenomenon that occurs in different forms not only in Tirana but in every hospital in Albania. Strange is the fact that they are not even worried about the massive departure of nurses that happens every day, causing a shortage of personnel in many hospitals and health centers, again the violence does not stop against the white shirts and especially against the nurses, since they are the first contact with the patients. A flood of messages have come to the Nurses' Association stating that this phenomenon of violence happens regularly in Albania. Although the Nurses are not to blame for these events, they are the numerous absences that occur in health institutions in the country such as: Significant lack of staff - overloading the working staff who cannot cope with the increased flow of patients. Significant lack of specialist doctors - where in most cases the services are covered by young specialist doctors without experience and where in most cases they are not professional
Found in this situation and dilemma to leave the job or leave Albania as they are not properly evaluated, not paid etc. and recently found and unprotected and unsafe during working hours, many nurses left the largest hospitals in the country demand their representation from the Association in launching a series of protests in the country until their demands are resolved. While every day we are in contact with all the personnel in the country, soon we will come out on a certain date to protest for the rights of every nurse in Albania. Unfortunately, forgotten and abused by the state itself, by the Unions, by the institutions where they work and by every political party in the government or opposition, the only solution remains for them to stand up for themselves through protests for their rights.
