INSTAT: 16% fewer accidents than last year, but a black record in August.

The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) has published data on road accidents for the month of July 2025, showing that 131 accidents were recorded, with 194 people involved (killed and injured).

Compared to July of last year, 15 fewer accidents were recorded, which shows a downward trend in serious road incidents.

However, the situation remains worrying.

During the month of August 2025 alone, 13 victims were recorded from road accidents, significantly increasing this year's toll.

Last year (2024) the number of victims was 175, while during the period January-July 2025, road accidents marked a decrease of 16% compared to the same period in 2024.

Causes and most problematic age groups

According to INSTAT, in 89.3% of cases, the cause of accidents was the behavior of the drivers. The most at risk are drivers aged 25-34, who caused 28.2% of the total accidents.

When do most accidents occur?

Most problematic day : Tuesday, with 19.8% of accidents.

Day with the fewest events : Friday, with only 9.2%.

The most dangerous time: between 08:00–12:00, where 28.2% of accidents occur.

For comparison, in December 2024, there were 149 accidents and 192 injured people.

The fatality rate in road accidents last year was 10.5 per 100 accidents, lower than in 2023, when it was 14.9.
