The uninterrupted activity of the Iranian group "Homeland Justice" in the publication of sensitive data from Albanian computer systems, has led to an increase in the number of letters sent abroad by the prosecutor's office in Tirana.
From 18 requests for legal assistance sent at the beginning of September 2022, "Ora News" learns that the number of countries that Albania seeks cooperation with has now increased to 22. This is because during this time unit "C", Partner Services and the Prosecutor's Office, have different server locations were discovered, from which the cyber system against our country was attacked.
What has already been officially confirmed after 2 and a half months of investigation is the fact that the hackers attacked from Iran, but using the server system from several different countries. The investigation shows that the hackers first used a "Homeland Justice" account in the "Twitter" application, starting to publish data through this application.
The investigation has proven, among other things, that the Iranian hackers, unable to publish the data on "Twitter" after the channel there was closed, opened an account on the Russian "Telegram" application.
During the opening of the site, they used a server in Iran, which was only active for 5 minutes and then went offline, causing "Homeland Justice" to be administered by servers in Russia. But this small mistake of theirs brought the full disclosure that Iran's intelligence was behind this cyber attack.
In addition to Russia, Iran and Britain, recently a request for help has been sent to the Netherlands, in order to get to know the data collected in the investigative way by the authority of this country, since the cyber system of the Netherlands itself was attacked by the group of Iranian hackers "Homeland Justice".
Legal assistance has also been requested from Turkey, China and India. In the 22 letters that the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana has already sent, the principle of reciprocity and the convention for the provision of mutual legal assistance have been used.
However, cooperation with some countries is almost at the zero point, since some of them, where legal assistance is sought, have declared Albania as a non-friendly country.
