The stories of the "strongmen" of Tirana, Gaz Muça, Neim

This is a journey back to the time when in Tirana the law was started to be made by the first gangs of the strong, whose deeds are already narrated with the weight of legends.

The first of the strongmen of Tirana, newly liberated from the communist order, would be Gazmend Muça, the gangster who controlled the "Bardhyl" street. His communist-era stories have remained vague. The desire to ride has been rumored, and it is even said that he tried the dungeon after stealing a horse in an agricultural enterprise.

While the event that would ascend the throne of the king of the strong would be the mass exodus of early August 1991 in the direction of Italy.

Exactly the deeds of Gaz Muca were initially connected with the ship "VLORA", which traveled from Durres to the Italian port of Bari, on August 8. It was rumored that he was leading an armed group, that they had taken command of the ship, that they had established order among thousands of people, and that, in some cases, the disobedient had been thrown into the sea.

The conflicts between the first groups of Tirana gangsters do not resemble at all those of the strongmen of the present times. They were caused by banal conflicts born due to hostility, insults and especially for violation of the territory.

The conflict that would lead to the brutal murder of Gazmend Muçë would be quite ordinary, but it was the rules of the time that did not tolerate it.

After the murder of Gazmend Muçë, recorded on April 7, 1992, fortunately the police managed to arrest one of the perpetrators, Neim Zyberin, also another legendary name for the time. But even though justice does not forgive him, sentencing him to 25 years in prison, Neim Zyberi, like many other prisoners, would soon gain his freedom….
