The "Babë Dudë Karbunara" gymnasium in the center of the city of Berat fell prey to robbers this evening. It is known that the thieves broke the window glass of the second floor of the building and after taking 20 iPods (tablets) that were in a type of safe, they ran away. They were spotted by the school guard, who notified the police.
The school is already under the supervision of the police and the arrival of forensic experts is expected to carry out the inspection of the scene. Gjimazi Baba Dudë Karbunara has been emptying for several days since it will be demolished to be rebuilt from scratch. It is learned that most of the school's materials have been removed, while the safe would be removed the next day with a crane, due to its weight.
The first suspicions are related to the fact that the thieves were well informed about the removal of the safe and undertook the theft this evening. The school guard was accompanied to the Police Station of Berat to give his statements, while work is being done to clarify the incident and identify and capture the author(s) of the theft.
