The Court of First Instance in Tirana has dismissed as unfounded in evidence and law the appeal filed by Ilir Meta against the Prosecutor's Office's decision not to launch investigations into his complaint against prison employees 313.
The Court of First Instance considered the former president's request as unfounded in evidence and law, leaving in force the Prosecutor's Office's decision of January 21, 2026, not to initiate criminal proceedings.
The decision was taken in the Deliberation Chamber, without the presence of the parties, and this decision can be appealed within 10 days to the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction.
Meta had opposed the prosecutor's decision, claiming that prison 313 employees had abused their authority and violated his rights by not allowing him to communicate from the institution's premises. He had also raised allegations about the way he was treated while in detention.
