Albanalogu Mark Palnikaj spoke in the show "Shqip" by Dritan Hilës regarding the Kanuns that exist in our country and how they have regulated life even in moments when the state did not exist.
The albanologist also told a story about one of the blood feuds that lasted the longest. He pointed out that the event lasted for many years and 45 people were killed, where he stressed that a blood had not yet been taken to this day.
"It happened once in Tropoja, in a mosque, in December and it had snowed. In the snow were the footprints of a girl. A boy when he came out of the mosque pulled out the cobweb and followed the trail. The quarrel started and 45 people were killed. It has lasted several years and a blood is still to this day still not taken. In Nikaj Mërtur there was blood that lasted up to 50 years ", said the albanologist.
"In the Kanun the friend is more important than the boy!"
The scholar spoke of the great importance the friend had in the Kanun. He said the friend was holy and was in your trust if he was in your house. If something happened to him you had to take his blood.
"The Kanun of Luma, the Kanun of Dibra, the Kanun of Skanderbeg, the Kanun of Bema and that of Lekë Dukagjini have remained. The Kanun of Lekë Dukagjini is gathered in Gomsiqe and is a masterpiece for the Albanian nation that we should be grateful for in our lives because it presents us all over the world as people of culture. But the problem is that the extent has been small. This Kanun has affected all spheres of life: economy, property, family, church, etc. There was both a criminal code and a civil code. It has operated in a stateless society and yet it has functioned best ", said Palnikaj.
