NAME/ Considered the 'godfather' of drug deals, the 37-year-old

Italian police announced today that they have extradited the much-wanted Albanian Kevin Kurti , who was arrested during an operation in February of this year in Durrës.

Italian media write that the 'godfather' of drug deals between criminal trafficking groups from Naples to Calabria has been handed over in complete operational secrecy under handcuffs in Rinas, to Interpol agents in Rome.

" Kevin Kurti, a 37-year-old internationally wanted man, landed at Rome Fiumicino airport on a plane, having been captured in Durrës. He had escaped capture during the arrests on January 17 by the Carabinieri of the Naples Investigative Unit, in implementation of an order for the implementation of a precautionary measure in prison issued by the Naples GIP, at the request of the Antimafia District Directorate, as part of the investigation conventionally called "Champions League ", informs the media of the neighboring country.

Kurti is among 29 suspects involved, in various capacities, in the large-scale importation of narcotics from the Netherlands and Spain into the most thriving drug trafficking areas in the province of Naples.

Drug trafficking was managed through encrypted conversations and telephones, initially considered "untouchable."

" The 37-year-old - arrested in Durres on the night of February 5 by the State Police of the Republic of Albania as part of the joint activity of the Carabinieri of the Naples Investigative Unit, with the International Police Cooperation Service of the Central Directorate of Criminal Police and Europol, was brought to Italy ," the article continues.

According to the investigations, it was about two criminal organizations operating in the Neapolitan territory, dedicated to organized drug trafficking, not functionally linked to each other, but having the same supply channel for narcotics (mainly cocaine and cannabis), managed in Spain.

"This morning (June 3) Kurti arrived in Italy, accompanied by personnel from the International Police Cooperation Service. The 37-year-old was subsequently handed over by the Albanian authorities to the Italian authorities, in execution of the decision issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples and was then subjected to the measure of house arrest at the disposal of the Naples DDA."

The Albanian is considered the "godfather" around whom the agreement between Simone Bartiromo, a key element of the organization, and Sebastiano Romeo, a Calabrian cocaine "supplier", revolved.

The Albanian's tracks located him hiding in the city of Durrës, where he was handcuffed for extradition purposes.
