Serious in Tirana, the young man dies after being escorted to the police station

A 32-year-old man, identified as Laer Kurti, died in the hospital after being stopped by the police for a search.

The Police Supervision Agency announces that the officers called the 32-year-old to check his identification documents, but he ran away.

" On 19.10.2022, around 23:07, the General Patrol of Police Station No. 3 Tirana, during the control of the territory, found a citizen on "Riza Cuka" street who was called to stop with purpose to check the identification documents.

As soon as the patrol asked him to present his identification documents, the citizen LK, 32 years old, ran away. The police officers gave chase and managed to stop him on "Don Bosco" street, then escorting him to the premises of Police Station No. 3 in Tirana.

During his escort, this citizen showed health problems as soon as he arrived at the premises of the Police Station. The help of the Emergency Service was immediately requested and because his health situation worsened, this citizen was sent by the police to the Trauma Hospital, where he died.

The Police Supervision Agency, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, has immediately set up the investigative group, which is carrying out the first investigative actions for the complete clarification of the circumstances of the event.

In addition, forensic examinations are currently being carried out to determine the cause of death and at the end AMP will issue a final press release ," the police announced.
