Mirlinda Karçanaj , who until now has led the National Agency for the Information Society ( AKSHI ), has resigned from her position .

It is learned that Igli Tafa will take her place .

The latter, since October 2022, held the position of Director General of the National Cyber ​​Security Authority and also the National Cyber ​​Security Coordinator.

Karçanaj is currently under " house arrest " after being indicted by SPAK for abuses with the tenders of the agency she ran.

It was December 16, 2025, when the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office issued 8 security measures for abuse of NAKSHI tenders.

In addition to Karçanaj, Hava Delibashi (the agency's number two) was also placed under "house arrest" , while stricter security measures were imposed on three businessmen. As part of the same file, the deputy director of the Tirana police, Erjon Ismaili, was suspended from duty.

Under investigation are administrators of several companies who, through illegal actions, within the framework of a structured criminal group, have formally participated in tender procedures, issued fictitious tax invoices and carried out transactions with companies that were not part of the tender process.

The suspected citizens, the Special Prosecution Office explained, within the framework of the structured criminal group, have committed illegal actions, specifically in determining specific criteria not defined in the law, to favor some companies over others.

As part of the activities of the "Structured Criminal Group", they have forced representatives of companies participating in tenders to drop complaints about certain tender procedures, thus paving the way for predetermined companies, for which the review of the complaint could also lead to a change in the ranking of the winners.

So who is the new director of AKSH?

Igli Tafa was born in Tirana on June 16, 1979. He is married and has 2 children.

He completed his studies at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, in network engineering and information security.

After qualifying with a doctorate in Virtualization Systems in Computer Science in 2013, he has earned a number of international certifications mainly in the field of information security.

Tafa has a diverse academic career, serving as a lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Tirana in the field of technology and information.

Since October 2022, he has been the Director General of the National Cyber ​​Security Authority and also the National Cyber ​​Security Coordinator.
