Wedding on the terrace of the City Hall, Erion Veliaj is sued in SPAK

Florian Arapi of the association MEXHLIS sued the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj in SPAK regarding the marriage performed on the terrace of the Municipality by two people of the same gender.

Edlira Mara and Alba Ahmetaj, the same-sex couple, crowned their love in a symbolic ceremony dressed in wedding dresses on the terrace of Tirana's town hall on the evening of May 19.

Their coronation was done by two British pastors, as a symbolic move to promote LGBT+ rights.

This ceremony was opposed by numerous personalities and associations as well as by religious communities in our country.

The marriage between two girls has not been accepted by the Civil Registry, as Albanian law does not recognize same-sex marriages.
