Prisons, without doctors and dirty/ The People's Advocate finds shortages

The inspections of the people's advocate in the prison system have revealed the problem of the lack of doctors in these institutions.

Another concern is hygiene, since no cleaning products were found, the lack of doctors in prisons has become a worrying problem.

The People's Advocate in the 2022 report states that the number of white shirts is not met to provide the appropriate service to convicts or detainees.

It has even been established that part-time doctors have been engaged in a large part, for a period of 4 hours a day.

And not only that, the facilities available for visits are missing and the same conclusion is given for the tools that doctors should have.

For this reason, in some prisons the necessary consultations, examinations or even laboratory analyzes have not been carried out. Also, in almost all prison facilities in the country, the heating system equipment was not working.

This is due to technical defects, or lack of fuel. Basic hygiene or cell cleaning products were found to be lacking in some of the inspected institutions.

Meanwhile, prisoners kept their clothes in plastic bags or in dryers under their beds as they were not provided with a closet or shelf. According to the inspections, the biggest problems were encountered in the IEVP Fushë-Kruje, Lezhë and Durrës./ hour
