Police have arrested Shkodran businessman Prekë Gjoni, who is accused of physically assaulting journalist Ervin Dushi.
Sources from the investigation group indicate that businessman Gjoni was arrested today by the Shkodër Police after being accused of the criminal offense of "Assault due to duty".
Although in his testimony to the media, Gjoni denied raping the journalist, investigations have revealed that the businessman hit the journalist because of his duty.
'The Crime Investigation Specialists of the Shkodra Police Commissariat arrested citizen P. Gj., 51 years old, resident of Shkodra, for the criminal offense of "Assault due to duty".
This citizen is suspected of having punched citizen ED, 46 years old, a journalist, on 18.05.2026, at around 20:00, in the "Skënderbeg" neighborhood, due to his duty, the Police statement states.
In a phone call to News24, the businessman stated that the journalist fell down on his own while denying that he had any hand in his rape, stating that if there is evidence that he raped her, he is willing to serve 100 years in prison.
The owner of "Xhedis" claimed that journalist Dushi blackmailed him for expired products, which according to him is not true because his markets do not carry such products. Regarding the blackmail received from the journalist, he further said that he has also notified the AKU.
"I have a lot to tell. This Ervini has been blackmailing me for 24 hours on social networks, the supermarket network. He asked to meet a cousin of mine where he talked about expired things that were poisoning citizens. We don't know what he's talking about, because we're honest. I notified the police yesterday that what he was doing was not normal. I also notified the AKU that this person is blackmailing me and that it's not a matter of expired food," said Gjoni.
Again pointing out the fact that he did not even touch the journalist, Prek Gjoni says that he met with him, adding that he only pushed him and not hit him.
Meanwhile, the journalist stated that during the meeting he faced a sudden attack, where three people mercilessly beat him.
He stated that the conflict and violence against him came as a result of a previous complaint he made in support of an employee of one of the markets managed by Gjoni, who, according to him, had had a dispute with the owner.
"I met with the owner of the Xhedis market in Shkodra and the allegation was that his lawyer had asked for my personal number after a while ago I published some videos on a social network and they were picked up by various media outlets where he threatened a citizen. And his lawyer had requested a meeting with me to discuss what facts we have with this. I appeared in a friendly manner, after a while ago I had a coffee with the gentleman, I appeared defenseless, I did not expect a blow. But this was the result of the meeting.
"So John was the fourth, where three of them raped me, and one helped me help me. Three of them beat me mercilessly. The beating came as a result of my work as a journalist," he said.
Today, the 'blues' of Shkodra have put handcuffs on Prekë Gjoni, the owner of the "Xhedis" supermarket chain, who is accused of raping a journalist in the course of his duty, contrary to what he claimed.
