The Directorate of Prisons has ordered an urgent search of the cell of prisoner Fatmir Pjetri, in Burrel, known as part of the 'Babagjyshëve' gang.

Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha reveals that the reason was the publication on his Instagram profile of an audio recording in which he accuses the Prisons Directorate of not allowing him to publish a novel he wrote, as it contains acts of violence.

But scrutiny will be exercised to discover how this recording was made and how it was posted on Instagram.

In 2025, Pjetri attempted to escape while in prison 313. He and Arbër Çekaj had hatched a plan to escape from solitary confinement with a sheet. The file shows how Fatmir Pjetri hit the guard and another prison employee in the head with an iron.

"Around 14:20 he was informed by the responsible specialist of the body Gëzim Rramushi that the detainee Lulzim Çepele had cut the veins of his right hand. For this reason he was sent to the infirmary for medical assistance, and then he himself went there and spoke to the assistant doctor who recommended that Lulzim Çepele needed stitches for the wound, which should be done in the hospital. For this he notified the operating room of the General Directorate, the Director of the institution and the Chief of Police, to escort Lulzim Çepele to the Trauma Hospital.

At the same time, he notified the ambulance driver to come to the Penitentiary Institution and pick up the injured person. While he was waiting for the staff to arrive, at around 14:55, he saw that a person was climbing a rope on the wall of building “A” on the northern side from the ventilation terrace. He immediately reported it and, together with another employee, went out into the yard immediately where he found that the detainee Fatmir Pjetri was halfway down the stairs, descending with a rope to the administration entrance.

He immediately climbed up first to stop him and when he was facing him he saw that he had an arched iron in his hand. He saw him at the landing of the administration stairs and at that moment Fatmir Pjetri hit him with the iron, damaging the left side of his head. After hitting him, Fatmir jumped from the landing of the stairs to the square, hitting the gate guard with the same iron. He got down and immediately went up behind him and together with the gate guard Hekuran Sina they neutralized Fatmir Pjetri.

At this moment he noticed that the other detainee Arbër Çekaj was descending with the same rope and after descending he ran towards the main gate. He was confronted by security officers Gëzim Nikoqi and Gezim Ramushi who neutralized and handcuffed him. Then the two people who attempted to escape were taken to the scanner where they were physically searched and no prohibited items were found with them and they were escorted to the isolation rooms. He then notified the director of the institution and the chief of police about this escape attempt.

Police officer Gëzim Nikoçi, on duty as an employee of the security group, states that at around 15:00, he was notified by the police officer of column 2-1, second floor of building “A”, that the detainee with the surname “Çepele” had been sent to the infirmary after he had cut his hand veins. He and his colleague Vladimir Myrto went to the infirmary because the injured person had a lot of blood flowing from his right hand to his forearm. After providing the first treatment, the assistant/doctor Bejaze Jaho went outside the regime and communicated with the institution's doctor and it was decided that the detainee should go to the hospital to have his wound stitched. The information officer assigned him and Vladimir to accompany him to the hospital.

As soon as they approached the entrance gate of the internal regime that leads to the information specialist's office, they heard noises and screams and at that moment the information assistant with the surname "Almeta" opened the door and from the information specialist they learned that there had been an escape attempt. He left the detainee Čepele with his colleague and ran out together with Vladimir into the yard where they saw that Fatmir Pjetri was lying down and neutralized by the policeman from building "B" and while Arbër Çekaj was going down the stairs to take him out into the yard.

He, along with Vladimir and Ali Almeta, jumped on him, handcuffed him and took him to the control room with Fatmir Pjetri. At this moment, he saw information specialist Myfit Xheka, bleeding from the head, and after about 10 minutes, the state police arrived at the institution.

Based on the above, citizen Arbër Çekaj, in collaboration with Fatmir Pjetri, committed the criminal offense of "removing a prisoner from his place of residence" provided for in Article 323/1-25 of the Criminal Code," the file states.

The 40-year-old is from Puka and has been previously convicted in Greece for robbery with violence and weapons. After arriving in Albania in 2013, he became part of the "Grandfathers' Gang". He has participated in all the robberies committed by the "Grandfathers' Gang", which spread throughout the country, in Tirana, Kuçovë, Durrës, Berat, Lezhë, Fushë-Krujë, Laç, Shkodër.
