The protest held today by the residents of Bëxulla against the Thumanë-Kashar project was accompanied by tensions.
The police tried to disperse the protesters, but they did not withdraw. Determined not to withdraw, the residents are sitting on the road, blocking traffic. One of the residents said that they are not against the project but demand compensation for their properties.
He said that there was no attempt at negotiations by the authorities to reach an agreement regarding this matter.
" We have not found any solution until today. No answer from the Albanian institutions as to when the rest of the property will be accessible. The road will be cut off and I have nowhere to enter. I do not understand this negligence of the government on a project that is completely theft.
This road is closed, we are not against the project but we are for compensation based on the law that is in force. There is no document to negotiate with us, despite the fact that Belinda Balluku and others say that we have a serious agreement with the residents, no one has come. That's why I'm protesting because I want to know how much my compensation is, " he said.
