Aleksandar Vučić, who resigned as President of the Republic of Serbia on Sunday evening, today handed over his duties to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, who will serve as Interim President of the Republic until a new president is elected.

The handover took place at the Presidency of Serbia in Andricev Venac, with the signing of the minutes and the handover of official documentation, reports, gift records and the seal of the President of the Republic.

During the handover, Vučić showed Ana Brnabić the documentation remaining in the president's office, including reports from the Orders Office, decrees on decorations, cases from the Pardon Service, records of gifts, as well as documentation from the mandates of his predecessors Boris Tadić and Tomislav Nikolić.

"This is the most important thing for you, this is your seal," Vučić said, handing Brnabić the official seal.

Then, addressing the journalists present, he read part of the minutes of the handover.

"These minutes mark the handover of duties between Aleksandar Vučić, the President of the Republic, who resigns, and Ana Brnabić, the Speaker of the National Assembly, who assumes the office of Interim President of the Republic," Vučić declared.

As he said, during the handover of the task, a financial report, a work report, a case report, as well as reports on judicial disputes and execution procedures were also submitted.

Brnabić thanked him, after which Vučić joked about the ease with which he accepted the new position.

"Look how easily she accepts the position," Vučić said, then recalling that Brnabić celebrates her birthday today.
