Sylvinho will no longer be the coach of the Albanian national football team. The news was announced at the last minute by the Albanian Football Association. The Brazilian's contract was due to expire at the end of June, and he had been in negotiations for a renewal for some time, but the parties have decided to end their cooperation after the team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

This news comes a few days before the friendly matches that Albania will play on June 3 and 6 in Tirana against Israel and Luxembourg. Today at 10:00, the leaders of the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) will present the new coach of the Albanian national team.

In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Albania came second behind England, leaving Serbia behind, with another historic qualification to the World Cup play-offs, where they were defeated 2-1 by Poland in the semi-final held in Warsaw.

Sylvinho joined the Albanian national team in 2023 and in his first year, achieved historic qualification for Euro 2024, closing the qualifying group in first place.
