Manchester United interim manager Ralph Rangnick described his side's heavy defeat in the Premier League by Liverpool as "humiliating."
Liverpool won 4-0 on Tuesday, taking the top of the Premier League.
United, who missed the chance to move level with fourth-placed Tottenham in the race for a Place in the Champions League, dropped to sixth.
"It's shameful, it's disappointing, maybe even humiliating. Especially in the first half, we just weren't on the field," Rangnick told Sky Sports.
The German manager acknowledged that Liverpool dominated all sides of the field.
"They just showed us what kind of caliber they are. We're not ready. We're not good enough to get points in a game against Liverpool," he said.
Asked how United can close the gap with Liverpool, he added: "We have to accept that they are six years ahead of us now.
"When Jurgen Klopp came in, they changed at the club and lifted not only the team, but the club and the city to a new level. That's what should happen to us in the next window," he said.
