Shortly before the start of the World Cup, fans boycott the high ticket prices

With the first ball of the 2026 World Cup just about to be kicked, FIFA must deal with another problem. Around 180,000 tickets remain unsold for all 104 matches of the World Cup, which begins this Thursday with the opening match at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico.

The Financial Times revealed this figure, noting that the main reason for this is high prices. Tickets for even low-profile matches in the US cost $140. For example, for regular seats at the US opener, a ticket sells for more than $2,700.

This figure is higher than what fans paid for the World Cup final four years ago. The exorbitant ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup have long been a hot topic of controversy.

 This is because on the official portal for their resale, a ticket to the coveted grandstand seats is sold for 11 thousand, 25 thousand dollars or even the insane 2 million dollars for the final.

Another reason that affects this stock of tickets as the start of the "World Cup" approaches is related to the uncertainty of fans about traveling to the United States of America, as a result of the tightening of conditions for entering the country during the administration of President Donald Trump.

There are numerous reports of fans being turned back to their countries after being deemed unacceptable by authorities at various airports in the country.
