According to media in Germany, Harry Kane is said to be ready to "buy himself out" of the final year of his contract with Tottenham in order to move to Bayern Munich this summer.

The England captain's future has become the most difficult transfer saga of the summer with Spurs convinced a £100m fee will be needed to let the striker leave.

Bayern, who have seen three bids rejected for the 30-year-old so far, have emerged as Kane's most likely destination with club directors Jan-Christian Dreesen and Marco Neppe flying to London for talks with the Tottenham boss. Daniel Levy on Monday.

A third bid believed to be in the region of £85m was swiftly rejected by the Premier League side.

However, despite the fee eclipsing the German club's record purchase, it still pales in comparison to Spurs' valuation.

German newspaper Bild report that Kane could decide to "buy himself out" under the final year of his Spurs contract, giving up a significant chunk of his wages, which are believed to be around £20.6m in year.

That amount could be enough to close the gap between the two clubs' positions and it would be an incredible step for Tottenham's all-time top scorer to leave north London.

Is Kane allowed to pay out of contract?

Article 17 of the FIFA Regulations states that any player who has signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out of the contract three years after signing the deal.

The term has been dubbed the "Webster decision" after Andy Webster set the precedent during his move from Hearts of Midlothian to Wigan Athletic in 2006.

The rule states that any player who chooses this option must provide the club with some form of compensation.
