Australia beats Turkey by two goals in Vancouver to join USA at the top of Group

Australia caused another surprise at the 2026 World Cup as they defeated Turkey in the Group D match with a score of 2-0, taking the first 3 points in this competition, thus joining the USA team.

Turkey had a golden chance to immediately reopen the scoring through Arkturkoglu, but the Australian goalkeeper performed a miracle and stopped his header.

In the remaining minutes, the story of this match did not change despite several efforts by Montella's team, and the score remained 2-0 for Australia, which started its adventure in this World Cup with a very important victory, while Turkey disappointed quite a bit on the field of play.
