With the call "Long live Albania" and with the national flag waving, opposition leader Sali Berisha closed the protest called by the Democratic Party this Saturday in front of the Prime Minister's Office, where a call was made for a caretaker government and accusations of corruption were leveled against the 'Rama' government.
And while the opposition's calls were that the protest would be grand, it only lasted an hour.
At 5:40, Sali Berisha, after marching from the blue headquarters, arrived at the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard and at 6:43, he left the stage, while the protesters dispersed immediately after him.
The rally was organized in a format where speeches were heard from three main allies, Fatmir Mediu, Agron Duka, and the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, who addressed the protesters with an audio message from cell number 5.
After them, Berisha's speech lasted 30 minutes and focused on the accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, but also on the call for the Diaspora to vote for the Democratic Party in the May 11 elections.
Despite lacking the aggressiveness of previous protests, and the Molotov cocktail, three police officers were injured, as the moment Berisha ascended the podium, protesters threw tear gas canisters and smoke bombs towards the cordon set up in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
Meanwhile, immediately after the rally, Berisha headed to Rinas International Airport, from where he will fly to Italy at 9:00 PM.
The Democratic leader will stop in Rome, where he will meet tomorrow with Albanian immigrants living in the Italian capital, as part of the Diaspora tour.
