Decisive hour for political parties, which at midnight must submit to the CEC lists of 186 candidates for deputies for the parliamentary elections of May 11. 46 names for the closed list and 140 for the open list.
Both in the blue camp and in the socialist camp, there is still no final list, but the final 'seal' on the names will be given this afternoon when the parties have called their structures to meetings.
Socialist leader Rama will convene the Socialist Party Presidency at 19:00, while before the meeting he will hold a meeting with the political leader for the diaspora, Taulant Balla. In this meeting, in addition to the balance of the work that has been done so far, it is expected to discuss potential names that could come from the diaspora.
The majority of the SP parliamentary group is expected to be on the open list, after Prime Minister Rama declared that those who have won even one mandate under the SP symbol will be on the open list, except for the political leaders of the regions. Meanwhile, the decision of the Socialist leader Edi Rama remains a surprise, as he said for the first time that he may not run as an MP at all.
Unlike the socialists, Sali Berisha is expected to include names loyal to him in the closed list. He has promised 8 safe seats to the allies of the opposition coalition "PD - Alliance for a Greater Albania". 4 of them will go to the Freedom Party, while 1 each will be allocated to Mediu, Dule, Idrizi and Duka.
The DP Presidency will meet today at 5:00 PM to finalize the lists, and the National Council will meet at 7:00 PM. Berisha himself is expected to be on the closed list in Tirana, while Ilir Meta rejected Berisha's offer from prison to include him on the closed list and declared that he will run on the open list.
"The DP Alliance for a Greater Albania" has brought together under its umbrella the Chams and Greeks, anonymous parties of conservatives and ballists, but also old allies.
In these elections, in addition to Berisha's coalition with allies, we also have the union between Adriatik Lapaj and Endri Shabani, as well as Enkelejd Alibeaj and Dashamir Shehi. 5 main parties are competing separately, while 17 so-called 'phantom' parties have registered, but it remains to be seen whether all of them will submit names of candidates for deputies for the whole of Albania.
