"I was born in the Albania of the Dictatorship and I fled to Sweden when I was little. My family's history has greatly influenced me to be part of politics in Sweden ." This is how MEP Arba Kokalari begins her interview for Top Channel.
The Albanian-Swedish politician, who is in Tirana as part of the group of MEPs who participated in the 20th meeting of the Albania-EU Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee, called on Albanian politicians to cooperate at this important moment.
In an interview with Top Channel journalist Alma Demiraj, she says that this is a moment when many European countries have given their approval for our country's membership in the EU.
"I know that both the majority and the opposition want Albania to be in the EU. It would be good for them to cooperate together. Especially since Albania now has a historical momentum, because all the countries of the European Union want Albania to enter the EU ," says Kokalari.
MEP Kokalari emphasized that Albania has made real progress and is moving forward rapidly, thanks to the reforms implemented.
"Albania has advanced a lot. EU laws and reforms are difficult, they are not easy. But Albania has advanced very quickly and this makes me happy. The group chapters that have almost all been opened are a signal that Albania is making the necessary reforms ," adds the Albanian MEP.
Regarding the highly polarized political climate in our country, Kokalari emphasized that the membership process is not political, but rather the fulfillment of duties by every state that aims to be part of the union./TCH
