Prime Minister Edi Rama is present in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the 9th Edition of the Future Investment Initiative, one of the most important global forums for innovation, technology and sustainable investments, which brings together world leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of the global economy.
Invited to one of the panels to discuss, where among others was the head of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, when asked by the moderator, the head of government expressed concern about the current geopolitical situation, mainly about the war between Ukraine and Russia, the latter's threats with nuclear plans, and the situation where Europe was caught unprepared and without early plans.
"Europe had no peace plan, while it put itself on the autopilot of the US until now. It had given up on everything and now it is stuck with armaments. It is worrying to remain on the armaments plan," said the prime minister.
He further added that it was not his place to lecture or tell what one country or another should do, but expressed his concern about the situation the world finds itself in, under the threat of nuclear weapons and the danger to peace.
"I am the long-serving prime minister of a small country. It is not my place to lecture and say what others should do, but as a concerned European I feel disturbed that the word nuclear weapons has become part of common vocabulary, whereas before it was not used by anyone. What Europe should do or not do is not Albania's business, although it is good that way, because when Europe succeeds, so are we. There is no rich country that is ugly," Rama said, among other things, in his speech.
