The SP MP held a question-and-answer session with the Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro regarding the reconstruction of the “Emin Duraku” school. Braçe brought up the concerns of parents about the delays in the reopening of the school, about the change in the routine of children who have afternoon classes at the “Edith Durham” school.
"The questions I have presented are related to a citizen's concern. It is related to the construction of the 'January 11' school in unit no. 5. The administration of the construction time of a school is done simply and by prioritizing the processes. Last March, the Prime Minister was at the construction site. The work had started in December 2024 and in March, beyond the contractual deadline, a clear deadline was set, so that the school would be completed in September. The school was completed in October. Now we are in March and parents have had a concern since December 2024 and so far their lives have changed. Parents must adjust their schedules to send and pick up their children from school. If the institutions would manage, the municipality first, the situation would definitely be better. Now that we are talking, the 1700 parents who have been put in difficulty with their daily activity that must accompany their children to school, the school has finished in October. Unfortunately, only these two days has the completion of the school with the material base begun. When will the school 11 open "January?" said Brace.
Minister Kumbaro responded that the school will be functional next September and that just completing the building is not enough, but there are several other procedural procedures related to furnishing that lead to the finalization of the school.
"The construction of the new building has been completed. It is another thing to see the end with our eyes, and the procedural one, the approval and so on. The furnishing must also be completed, which also has a prosecution procedure. It is being completed like a pot, and I can even confirm that some of the furniture has entered the building. There are 33 classrooms, 13 for primary education and 20 for the 9-year cycle. The building is being equipped with 10 laboratories, in addition to them, with a multimedia room, a library, and a gym with high standards. During this period, they are studying at the 'Edith Durham' school, which is located 160 m from this school, without leaving the area. It will be a good wind in September of next year that all the students will be at the Emin Duraku school," said Kumbaro.
