Prime Minister Edi Rama was welcomed this afternoon with an official ceremony in Rome by his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni.
Rama's visit to Rome comes within the framework of the first Italy-Albania Intergovernmental Summit.
Today, for the first time, a joint meeting between the Albanian and Italian governments will be held in Rome, a meeting which marks the highest level of cooperation between the two states.
Albania and Italy enjoy a large number of signed agreements or jointly developed projects, in areas such as defense, health, technology, infrastructure, economy and even support for Albania towards membership in the European Union. In 2010, the two countries signed the Declaration of Strategic Partnership.
Thursday's agenda also includes the exchange of Bilateral Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding.
At the end of October, the government approved in principle a cooperation agreement with Italy for at least 10 sectors. This agreement is expected to be signed between Prime Minister Edi Rama and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni.
It is learned that 10 government ministers, along with Prime Minister Edi Rama, will travel to Rome.
At around 2:00 PM, the signing of several agreements and memorandums in areas such as: defense and security, energy, migration, civil protection, health, environment, economic development and infrastructure is expected.
