DP's request for interpellation with Rama on 'Balluk' is rejected

The DP's request to hold an urgent interpellation with Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the appeal of Belinda Balluku's suspension to the Constitutional Court has not been accepted.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, emphasized that the issue is in the Constitutional Court and the decision from the court must be awaited.

74 MPs voted against and only 17 were in favor of holding the interpellation.

"The matter is currently under review by the Constitutional Court and the request for urgent interpellation, according to the constitutional provision, has not been accepted as the matter is currently before the Constitutional Court and it is this body that will provide a final interpretation on the powers of the separation of powers," said Peleshi.

The government, in the request filed with the Constitutional Court, argued that the GJKKO, with the decision to suspend, violated the powers of the Council of Ministers, the President and the Assembly. However, the DP, in the request for interpellation, emphasized that Rama had presented claims to the Constitutional Court on behalf of the Assembly without taking any position on the part of this institution.
