Prime Minister Edi Rama said today at the end-of-year conference that Albania is today at another level when it comes to the fight against organized crime.
"Thanks to the cooperation with the Special Prosecution Office and the intensive work done today, we are at a completely different level. Today I am talking about facts and figures, not perceptions in relation to the strength that the state has gained and the ground that organized crime has lost. We are also at a completely different level in the fight against trafficking and drugs."
He also had a suggestion, not as the head of government, but as a fellow citizen of the country.
"Allow me to make a suggestion, not as a prime minister... For you as a fellow citizen of this country, do not do to Albania what others do with the greatest ease by painting it as a country of crime and drugs, because it is not! If it were, it would not be negotiating with the EU, if it were, I would not have on the table the plan to end the negotiations by the end of 2027. It simply would not happen! If today Albania's special prosecutors are called, sought out in European and Latin American countries, they are called as reliable allies, not as tourists," said Rama.
