Freedom Party Celebration

Members of the Freedom Party held their end-of-year party in one of the bars in Tirana.

They danced and sang to the rhythms of Albanian folk songs, enjoying the celebration. Unlike other years, the party leader, Ilir Meta, was not part of the celebration, as he is in prison.

The country's former president has been in custody since October 21, suspected of committing the criminal offenses of "corruption, money laundering, failure to declare and conceal assets."

In the footage published by the Deputy Chair of the party, Erisa Xhixho, Monika Kryemadhi is not visible, and it is not known whether she was part of the celebration or not.

SPAK previously stated that Meta and his wife "in collaboration with each other, but also with other public officials, have been involved in the commission of several criminal offenses."

Investigations against Meta began in 2019 in connection with the affair known as ÇEZ-DIA, which is related to the privatization of the energy distribution company and the collection of outstanding debts.

Three years later, another case was opened, following a report of undeclared payments worth thousands of euros from the party led by Meta, for lobbying in the United States.
