Prime Minister Edi Rama has participated in the European forum Wachau in Austria on the topic "Preserving the future of Europe and EU enlargement".
In the critical language of recent days, even in this forum Rama reiterated that he feels sorry for the EU decision not to open negotiations.
He said at the time that Bulgaria, as a NATO country, had taken two other members of the alliance hostage.
"Austria seems to me the perfect place to discuss Europe and the Western Balkans. Today the EU needs the Balkans as much as the Balkans need the EU. Let me tell you that there is no better place than Austria to recover from the depressing meetings in Brussels.
I have to say first and foremost that I feel sorry for the EU, I feel really sorry. Many people commented on what I said at the press conference and what we said after leaving the summit as an angry expression. Yes it can be, but it is not about us, it is about the EU. After standing for 4 hours, we saw, heard and felt helpless in the face of a surreal situation where a NATO country, Bulgaria, took hostage two other NATO countries, RMV and Albania, in the middle of a hot war in the borders of Europe ", said Rama.
According to the Albanian Prime Minister, this is not only related to Bulgaria, but to the spirit of the European Union as a whole.
"What happened to Bulgaria was how enlargement was transformed into a means of taking other countries hostage for the sake of internal problems," Rama said.
