The President of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, responded today to the residents of Rrjoll who are protesting against the construction of a tourist complex with the argument that the ownership of the land has been alienated.
From the DP podium, Berisha said that Democratic MPs are following the issue and that he supports every protest by residents.
"We demand and insist on full respect for property rights and other rights of citizens. I tell that citizen that it is not true that the DP is not interested. He may not know, and this is normal. But the DP deputies have been there and have dealt with the problem and are dealing with it," declared the opposition leader.
However, he added that everything must be based on documents.
"Of course we support the protest without question, when the problems are all based on accurate, official, true documents. Which I do not discuss. Apriori does not refute any claim of those protesters, so we are seeing, we are following it. Should it be based on documents, it should. Because I have no knowledge, it was bought, it was not bought. Yes, we are following this development. But we are categorically against touching even one square meter of land of private owners," the chief democrat said.
