Prime Minister Edi Rama has acknowledged clashes with the international community over the protection of Belinda Balluku and the failure to lift her immunity a day earlier in the Assembly, which caused reactions from several diplomatic missions.
In the press conference he is holding, the prime minister said that it is true that there have been debates with some of the country's partners regarding this issue, but added that " I do not accept anyone looking down on me ."
Rama: A corruption case that the prosecution itself has not filed charges but for a case under investigation, which can be investigated freely without even the slightest obstacle and I repeat what I said before the parliamentary group, I encourage the prosecution to follow and investigate all the leads where it can be thought that the thorn of corruption may appear along the way. So far we are not facing a corruption case.
On the other hand, it is true that we have had a debate with some of our partners regarding the approach to this issue. And as I believe most people know, but the minority pretend not to know, in this position I represent Albania and all Albanians, the interest of the country, and one of the indisputable norms of this representation is to look my partners in the eye, to look me in the eye at the same level. I would not even consider looking down on anyone, but I would not accept anyone looking down on me. Beyond the way it is a caricature of political bargaining, our discussions have been constructive.
There was nothing like what was said in terms of tension or pressure or threats. These are things that do not happen at the levels where these discussions are taking place. And I believe that the statements made yesterday by some representatives are also clear.
