Government changes, seven new ministers sworn in as President

Seven new ministers sworn in to the Presidency

The 6 ministers and the new acting Deputy Prime Minister were sworn in today before the President of the Republic Bajram Begaj after receiving a vote of confidence yesterday in the Albanian Parliament amidst the chaos of the Democratic Party.

In addition to changes in several departments, there are 4 new ministers joining the cabinet of Edi Rama's government.

Ferit Hoxha is the diplomat who will now head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Enea Karakaçi, who has until now held the position of director of OSHEE, has been appointed Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, replacing Belinda Balluku.

Ermal Nufi will be the new Minister of Defense, who until now has held the position of Deputy Secretary General to the Prime Minister. Erion Ismaili will head the Ministry of State for Parliamentary Relations.

Albana Koçiu will now hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister, while the Minister of Interior has been entrusted to Besfort Lamallari, who has headed the Ministry of Justice for 6 months.

Lamallari's position has already been entrusted to Toni Gogu. Belinda Balluku, Elisa Spiropali and Pirro Vengu have left the cabinet.

The cabinet changes were voted on in the Assembly yesterday amid chaos created by the Democratic Party. The floor was blocked by Berisha and other MPs, who did not even participate in the voting process.
