At the height of Prime Minister Edi Rama's controversy with the judicial system, Justice Minister Besfort Lamallari explains what the socialist majority intends to do when it says it will intervene in the Reform laws. In an interview with A2, Lamallari said that the government's will to provide more justice to citizens is also an obligation to address issues that can be improved.

"Let's not leave unaddressed with objectivity issues such as the delay in court cases, criminal proceedings, the legal guarantees that should exist for Albanian citizens, the disciplinary mechanism of judges and prosecutors, who endlessly delay the publication of decisions given. Other sensitive issues such as vacancies."

For Lamallari, the need to improve the reform is directly related to the goal of closing negotiations with the EU.

"It makes no sense for us not to address issues that come from citizens' complaints regarding the justice they receive."

Referring to developments in the Constitutional Court regarding the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, the Minister of Justice confirmed the need for a legal change, but did not provide an answer as to whether the changes announced by Prime Minister Rama will affect only the Criminal Procedure Code or also the Constitution.

"It is up to the socialist parliamentary group to find the appropriate legal solutions, whatever they may be, suitable to resolve this moment once and for all. At this moment I cannot say what the necessary interventions would be. Of course, the Ministry of Justice, as for every act that is approved, stands by its constitutional role."

After allocating a fund of 1.4 billion lek for financial compensation for 13 thousand families of former owners, at the end of last year, Lamallari made an appeal to former owners who have incomplete documents in their applications.

"Appear at the ATP. There will be a dedicated day, where all specialists, lawyers, will be available to help citizens, to make sure that the file is complete. If another document is needed, they will be assisted, so that we have a higher number than last year."
