The Prime Minister's Office has reacted to Erion Veliaj's decision to dismiss Anuela Ristan from her position as acting mayor.

Prime Minister's Spokesperson, Manjola Hasa, reacted to Top Channel , writing that Erion Veliaj continues to be mayor of Tirana by decision of the Constitutional Court.

The reaction also states that the "situation created" in the Municipality of Tirana is part of the confusion that the imprisonment of the elected official in the cell has created in the progress of the Albanian capital, which has imposed a governance of Tirana with subordinates at a distance - a "legal" absurdity that cannot even be imagined in democratic Europe, let alone happen.

The Constitutional Court has spoken on this issue and its decision is clear: Erion Veliaj is the mayor of Tirana and exercising his mandate on his part is not simply his right as an elected official, but is a right of the voters of the capital, which is violated daily with not inconsiderable consequences for the smooth running of the affairs and services of the Municipality of Tirana.

This is the Prime Minister's opinion and this is a matter of respecting the Constitution and the will of the voters, in which the Prime Minister sees no room for interpretation by anyone.
